FTPing into your Raspberry Pi

This guide will show you how to FTP into your Raspberry Pi from within Windows. This assumes you already know your IP address - if you don't, see the following guide first: http://www.cpdforteachers.com/resources/finding-the-ip-address-of-your-raspberrypi. You also need the following zip file downloaded and extracted onto your computer: http://cpdforteachers.com/downloads/WinSCP.zip

1) Navigate to your WinSCP folder or wherever you extracted the zip file to.

2) Open WinSCP.exe

3) Enter the IP address of the Raspberry Pi, the username and the password. If you don't know the IP address, see http://www.cpdforteachers.com/resources/finding-the-ip-address-of-your-raspberrypi. The default username and password are 'pi' and 'raspberry' respectively.

4) You may see an error similar to this. If so, click "Yes".

5) You should then be presented with a window like the following, displaying your files on your local computer in the pane on the right, and the files on the Raspberry Pi in the pane on the left. 2013-07-08_161640

6) You can copy files from the Raspberry Pi to your computer by dragging and dropping them across.
