Teachers accept that feedback is a crucial part of students progress, but both students and teachers are often disappointed with the process. Students complain that it is unhelpful or demotivating. Teachers complain that feedback is too late and often ignored by students. Feedforward  ensures that teacher comments  focus on future learning and comments by teachers are considered by students and acted upon. Feedforward can also provide a holistic aspect  to students ‘next steps’ so teachers can work together and not in isolation.

Teachers are concerned that lesson observation lacks consistency and coherence. They can be left feeling the process was a waste of time. Some teachers report a negative experience left feeling deflated and demotivated.
